Itinerary
Day 1: Rishikesh/Haridwar to Guptkashi/Sonprayag
  • Morning: Start your journey early from Rishikesh/Haridwar around 6:00 AM. Enjoy the scenic drive through the hills, crossing Devprayag, Rudraprayag, and several other beautiful places along the Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers.

    Lunch: Break for lunch at a midway point like Srinagar or Rudraprayag.

    Afternoon: Reach Guptkashi by late afternoon. Guptkashi is a town known for the Vishwanath Temple and Ardhnareshwar Temple. If time permits, you can visit these temples.

    Evening: Check into your hotel in Guptkashi or Sonprayag. Prepare for the Kedarnath trek the next day and rest for the night.

    Stay: Guptkashi/Sonprayag (Hotels/Lodges)

Day 2: Sonprayag/Guptkashi to Kedarnath Trek
  • Morning:

    After an early breakfast, drive to Sonprayag (5 km) and take a local jeep to Gaurikund (the base of the trek).

    Begin your trek to Kedarnath by 7:00 AM. The trek is steep and challenging, but there are various rest stops and food stalls on the way. You can also opt for ponies or palanquins.

    Afternoon: Reach Kedarnath by early afternoon and check into a guesthouse or camp. After some rest, visit the sacred Kedarnath Temple for Darshan (afternoon or evening aarti).

    Evening: Spend the evening exploring the spiritual atmosphere of Kedarnath. You can witness the evening aarti if you missed the afternoon one.

    Stay: Guesthouses/tents in Kedarnath.

Day 3: Kedarnath to Gaurikund & Return to Rishikesh/Haridwar
  • Trek Distance: 16 km (Kedarnath to Gaurikund) Trek Time: 5–6 hours

    Morning: Early morning Darshan at Kedarnath Temple if you missed the previous day. After breakfast, start your descent from Kedarnath to Gaurikund. You should start by 7:00 AM to give yourself enough time to reach your next destination.

    Afternoon: Once you reach Gaurikund, take a jeep back to Sonprayag and then drive back to Rishikesh/Haridwar.

    Evening: Arrive at Rishikesh/Haridwar by late evening, marking the end of your spiritual journey.

Trip Highlights

  • Weather: Carry warm clothes, as temperatures drop significantly at higher altitudes.

    Ponies/Helicopter: If you have time constraints or physical limitations, you can take a helicopter from Phata to Kedarnath. However, booking in advance is recommended.

    Travel Season: Best time to visit is between May and October. Avoid monsoon due to landslide risks.

  • Vicals rides between all locations.

  • Accommodation at luxury hotels/guest houses at each site. Meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner).
