Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Katra (Vaishno Devi Base)

  • Morning: Arrive at Jammu Railway Station or Jammu Airport. Travel to Katra (around 1.5-2 hours by road). Check-in at your hotel in Katra and rest for a while..

    Afternoon: After lunch, prepare for the trek to the Vaishno Devi Temple. The trek is around 12 km from Katra to the Bhawan (temple complex). You can either walk, hire a pony, or take the helicopter service (subject to availability).

    Evening/Night: Continue the trek to Vaishno Devi. The trek can take around 5-7 hours, depending on your pace. If possible, attend the evening Aarti or offer your prayers once you reach the Bhawan. Optional: You can also visit Bhairon Baba Temple, which is 2 km uphill from the Bhawan. Stay overnight at the Bhawan or return to Katra (depending on your preference and stamina).

Day 2: Vaishno Devi Darshan and Travel to Amritsar

  • Morning: Early morning, offer prayers at the Vaishno Devi Bhawan if you haven’t already. Begin the descent back to Katra (3-4 hours). If staying overnight at Bhawan, start early to return to Katra by late morning.

    Afternoon: Arrive back in Katra, check out of your hotel, and relax for a while. After lunch, proceed to Amritsar by road (approximately 6-7 hours). Alternatively, you can take a train from Jammu to Amritsar. .

    Evening: Check-in at your hotel in Amritsar and relax. Optional: If time permits, you can visit the local market for some shopping or local food tasting.

    Overnight Stay: Amritsar

Day 3: Golden Temple and Wagah Border

  • Morning: Early morning visit to the Golden Temple (Sri Harmandir Sahib), the holiest Sikh shrine. Spend time around the Sarovar (holy water tank), and if you wish, participate in Seva (volunteer service) or have a meal at the Langar (community kitchen).

    After visiting the Golden Temple, explore nearby attractions like: Akal Takht (one of the five seats of Sikh authority). Jallianwala Bagh (a historical site of the massacre during British rule).

    Afternoon: After lunch, visit the Durgiana Temple, another prominent temple in Amritsar dedicated to Goddess Durga.

    Evening: In the late afternoon, head to the Wagah Border (about 1 hour from Amritsar) to witness the Beating Retreat Ceremony at the India-Pakistan border. The ceremony takes place around 5 PM.

    Night: Return to Amritsar for dinner and relax at your hotel. Overnight Stay: Amritsar

Day 4: Departure

  • Morning: After breakfast, you can revisit the Golden Temple for a serene morning experience if you wish. Alternatively, visit the Partition Museum or enjoy a walk around the Amritsar Heritage Street.

    Afternoon: Check out from your hotel and head to the Amritsar Railway Station or Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport for your onward journey.
